Some Good Ol' Trash Talking

Sean Avery of the Dallas Stars is the undisputed trash talking king of the NHL. In his latest chirpshow, he called out Calgary Flames defenceman Dion Phaneuf. Dion is currently dating movie star Elisha Cuthbert (The Girl Next Door, 24), which is Avery's ex. Before a game in which Avery was going to face Phaneuf, Avery stated "I just wanted to comment on how it's become like a common thing in the NHL for guys to fall in love with my sloppy seconds. I don't know what that's about. But, enjoy the game tonight." (referring to Phaneuf and Cuthbert). Avery was suspended indefinitely pending a meeting with the commissioner. Apparently, it's illegal to trash talk in the NHL now. Here's a video reminding us of the good ol' days when trash talking was a norm in the NHL.

UFC 91 Highlights

The main event of UFC 91, Lesnar Vs. Couture, did not dissapoint. It seemed that the consensus was split on who would win this fight. It was a fight between experience (Couture) against size and youth (Lesnar). In what was a pretty even fight through the first round and a half, a surprise right hand by Lesnar caught Couture near his ear and he dropped instantly. As soon as he hit the ground, Lesnar proceeded to pound his head repeatedly into the ground with his fist. After a few seconds of this, Mario Yamasaki had no choice but to stop the fight. Lesnar is the new UFC Heavyweight Champion.

In the other notable fight, Kenny Florian defeated Joe Stevenson by TKO. After the fight, Kenny called out BJ Penn, challenging him for his lightweight belt. Penn is, of course, focusing on his UFC 94 fight with possibly the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world right now in George St.Pierre. After that fight, I think we may see Florian Vs. Penn for the lightweight title.

A man has escaped from jail in Germany by devising an elaborate plan where he did not tattoo a map of the building to his body or actually devise a remotely elaborate plan. This man put himself in a cardboard box which was taken out of the prison by express courier. As soon as the courier exited the prison grounds, the man cut a hole in the canvas backing of the courier and made a run for it. This mastermind has not yet been spotted.

In an absolutely incredible finish to the Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton takes the championship on the very last turn on the very last lap of the race! Going into this race, Hamilton needed to finish in at least 5th place to secure the title and hold off Felipe Massa who was close on his tail in the standings. Massa, racing in front of his home fans, did his part and won the race. All that he and his team could do was watch as Hamilton completed the race. Hamilton was sitting in 6th place going into the final turn of the race, when he passed Glock who was sitting in 5th place. This sparked some controversy as many people believe that Glock allowed Hamilton to pass. Either way, Hamilton went on to finish the race in 5th place and win the title, becoming the youngest driver to ever win the Formula 1 Championship.
